Consider Volunteering With Us When considering volunteering, Finley offers two convenient options. You can volunteer here at Finley or with the local RSVP volunteer corps. Finley's volunteer program offers a variety of opportunities for service in our hospital to men and women, ages 14 and up. Volunteers are important to the Finley Family and are valuable resources for providing excellent customer service. Our needs vary according to specific department. We try to match a volunteer with his/her interests to make sure it is a positive experience for both the volunteer and the hospital. Volunteering at Finley affords you the opportunity to meet new friends, help others, and stay active. Opportunities include:
Volunteer assignments can be arranged with your schedule. We do ask for at least a one year commitment. The Volunteer Services office can be reached by calling 563.589.2643, or through email at Volunteer.Services@FinleyHospital.org . SHIIP Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) exists to assist seniors or those on Medicare/Medicaid with questions and concerns about their insurance. Our counselors can answer questions regarding Part A or Part B or Medicare, supplemental insurance, Managed Care, Part D prescription coverage and Long Term Care insurance. Our counselors are well trained by the SHIIP office in Des Moines, which is under the direction of the state insurance division. As all of our counselors are volunteers, to meet with a counselor you must make an appointment by calling 563.589.2763. The SHIIP program is sponsored by The Finley Hospital and their offices are located at the corner of Grandview and West Third, with the entrance on West Third.
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is a member of the Senior Corps network of programs that use the experience, skills, and talents of adults 55 and older to meet the needs of our community. Sponsored by The Finley Hospital, RSVP has offices located on the first floor of the hospital near the cafeteria. RSVP of Dubuque County has approximately 400 active volunteers that serve over 30 agencies county-wide. Volunteer opportunities include: Delivering Meals on Wheels, providing assistance at American Cancer Society's Discovery Shop, grounds work and gift shop opportunities at the Dubuque Arboretum and The Mines of Spain, providing friendly visits at the local nursing homes, and many other opportunities. A significant benefit of RSVP is learning about multiple volunteer opportunities and finding the right volunteer experience for you, without having to go to numerous places. One visit with RSVP and you will learn about all the opportunities we have within your community. We work with you to find the right placement and will help you get started wherever you choose.
